Kathleen Springs at Kings Canyon

A easier walk is the Kathleen Springs Walk. It is a 2.6 km (1.5 h) return walk in to a delightful spring-fed waterhole.

If you are feeling more adventurous you can try the Giles Track. It is a 22 km overnight walk traversing the top of the range from Kathleen Springs to Kings Canyon.

The Kathleen Springs (2.6 km return. Approx 1.5 hours duration).

This walk is recommended for families and visitors with limited mobility. Signs along the track tell the story of centuries of Aboriginal culture and the recent cattle industry.

It leads to a delightful spring-fed waterhole at the head of Kathleen Gorge. This is a cool moist place to sit and enjoy the areas tranquillity.

Access

The Park is located southwest of Alice Springs and can be reached via a number of routes: via the Stuart Highway,
• Lasseter Highway and Luritja Road (sealed roads). via Larapinta Drive through
• the West MacDonnell National Park. A Mereenie Loop pass is required to travel this route and is available from the Alice Springs Tourist Information Centre, Glen Helen Resort and Kings Canyon Resort. via the Stuart Highway, Ernest
• Giles Road (4WD essential) and Luritja Road.
